The Woodinville Dance Academy
ADD/DROP FORMS: Here at the Woodinville Dance Academy, we view our classes as learning experiences that build month to month. Each person progresses more the longer he or she stays in class. When you sign up, you are automatically in our computer system through the school year. If you decide to quit taking a class you must fill out an official ADD/DROP form. This let’s us know in writing that you are adding or dropping a class, and gives us time to update the computer. If you do not fill out this form, you will be billed, and expected to pay for the class you are enrolled in. We will NOT give refunds for classes dropped in the middle of the month.
TUITION: Tuition is due on the 25th of each month for the next month. (For example: October tuition is due the 25th of September). There will be a $10.00 late fee for all payments received after the 1st of the month. In order to keep your tuition cost down we only offer invoices by email. We DO NOT print & send out bills. Paying tuition on time is your responsibility. Paying tuition on time is expected even if your child misses class the week tuition is due. Please mail in your payment if it is inconvenient for you to drop it off at the studio.
NO REFUND POLICY: There are no refunds for missed classes. We do not pro-rate tuition for classes that will be missed. Full tuition is always expected, even if you are traveling for an extended period of time. You always have the option of making up a missed class, or dropping out of that class for the month. If you decide to drop out of a class, you must fill out the ADD/DROP form before the month begins. Please be aware that if you drop out someone else may take your spot in a class, or the class may be canceled due to low enrollment. Students who drop out of a class after February 1st, then decide to rejoin the class will not be allowed to participate in Recitals.
MAKE-UP CLASSES: Make-ups must be done within 30 days of the class missed. Please call first to schedule a make-up class to ensure there are not too many people making up on that day, and to be sure the class is being held. Please be aware that many classes are working on recital dances, during the months of February-March. There will be no make-ups after May 1st in classes participating in Recital. Make-ups can be used only by the person that missed the class. Make-ups may only be used while still enrolled for the class you are making up. Summer classes may only be made up during that same summer session. There are no make-ups for Summer Camps or Workshops.
LATE PICK UP FEE: You will be charged $10 per every 15 minutes if you are more than 15 minutes late picking up your child. This is only when the studio has to remain open and one of our staff has to stay for the sole purpose of waiting for you to pick up your child. The studio DOES close between the morning classes and the after school classes.
SNOW OR OTHER WEATHER CONDITIONS: In the event of snow, or other weather conditions (such as power outages due to storms or earthquake) please call the studio 481-5526. There will be a voice-mail message letting you know whether classes are canceled or not. It is best to call about one hour before your class begins. If classes are canceled we will offer a special class for make-up only if there are no similar classes already on the schedule for you to make up in. We do not give refunds.
ATTENDANCE: Attendance is very important for students to continue learning and improving at an equal rate. If a student misses class too frequently, the instructor may decide he or she cannot keep up with the level of the class, and refer him or her to a different class of a lower level. Please call if you or your child will be missing a class and leave a message for your instructor. Attendance is very important towards the end of the school year when participating in Recitals. The instructor may take the student out of recital if he or she has missed too many classes.
PLEASE BE INVOLVED: We feel it is very important for parents to be well informed. Newsletters are handed out on different events or issues coming up, please read these. We ask you to stop in every now and then to check the bulletin boards to make sure you have received any recent Newsletters. We ask that you watch your child sometimes to see how he or she is doing in class. We also ask that you be available near recital time, when costumes arrive. Please try and be flexible to be available to stay for a few minutes to see how the costume fits, find out if there is any “tacking” you need to do, find out about hair styles, tights, and make-up colors. The more involved you are at this time, the more prepared the dancers will be. Most of the time this just takes popping in at the beginning of the class time and staying a few minutes. It is our goal to provide a positive atmosphere for learning the Art of Dance. Please feel free to call if you have any questions or concerns, 481-5526.
RECITAL: All dancers have the option of participating in recital or not. If you decide to participate in recital, you will receive a recital Newsletter. This goes over our rules of etiquette and behavior during recitals, and also informs you of what to expect during recital weekend. You must agree to follow the rules we establish for recital. This helps us to run a professional show, and keeps a large volume of students in control and safe. YOU MUST BE AVAILABLE THE WHOLE WEEKEND OF RECITALS, WE WILL NOT REARANGE THE SHOWS TO ALLOW FOR A PERSON WHO CANNOT BE AVAILABLE ON BOTH RECITAL DAYS. Confirmation of Recital dates will be posted by October 31.
